Summer School 2007
In January 2007 I taught at the Young Music Society summer school in Canberra, I took two classes in beginner cello, a class in music theory and two classes in digital media.
The Digital Media Class
I used my DVD rom to introduce 20 kids of between the ages of 9 - 15 to the concepts behinds sounds and wave synthesis, after which we proceeded to use a wave synthesis module to create sounds form scratch. Each student was asked to produce around five sounds lasting from 1s to 1min. Unfortunately the summer school wasn't long enough to introduce them to software for mixing their sounds, so I had to do that myself for the final concert. The mp3 file below has had no changes to the original sounds other than their placement, panning and volume.
